Issues

A tax for a good cause, is still a tax.

If any person, organization, corporation or government thinks they have a 'good idea' that would better the community, let them present it to the community & collect donations to fund it. This is what Public Radio, Religious Youth Groups, Girl Scouts & many societal organizations do & they seem to survive quite well. If it is a useful service or tool, then sell it & healthy competition will keep the price reasonable.

Taxes are a form of robbery. A government imposes a tax by force, "Give us the money or we will come & take it". Citizens have no choice but to pay in one form or another & only the government gets to choose the form of payment. Also, citizens aren't allowed to tell a government how to spend the money so taken. Even taxes 'earmarked' to certain uses can be comandeered elsewhere.

Taxes are never voluntary. 'Voluntary' would presuppose that the services provided by a government were actually worth the price, & these services can be provided by other companies for a similar price.

So, if it is a good cause, why does 'the government' steal our income to support it?

Personal

Greetings,

My name is Charles Kenworthy, I'm running for Wyoming State House District 9. I am 47, I'm a Christian, I've been a resident of Wyoming since I was 9, I drive a flat-bed truck for a living. I'm running for office now that my children are grown because I find them going out into a world that seems bent on controlling their every move & thought. I've been married for 19 years, I have 3 kids, 3 stepkids & 7 grandkids.

Over the next several weeks I'll be writing a series of blogs addressing my views about the Wyoming Libertarian Party Platform, I invite your comments. I am not going to say what I think will get your vote. If you like what I say, vote for me, if not, I'm sure that my opponents views will differ.

I believe adults should be trusted to act responsibly first & then to accept the consequences (good or bad) of their actions.
I believe the Constitution is still relevant.
I believe a truly free market is self-correcting.
I believe that Less Government means More Freedom.
I believe that every responsible adult has the right to bear arms.
I believe it is the responsibility of parents to provide the best possible education for their children & that they should have a true choice of schooling with a voice in the curriculum provided.
I believe parents should have the authority to discipline their children & the responsibility to teach them right from wrong.
I believe it is the responsibility of society to care for the old, infirm & orphaned, not 'the government'.
I believe that every service that government supplies can be better provided by private companies, or volunteers.

Thank You
